AI Timetable Generator
Auto-generate a conflict-free, balanced weekly timetable for all classes using AI.
How the AI generator works
The AI Timetable Generator uses a constraint-satisfaction algorithm to build a full weekly timetable. It respects:
- Teacher availability and preferences (morning vs afternoon, days off)
- Maximum periods per teacher per day
- Subject load per week per class (e.g. Math 6 periods/week, Art 2 periods/week)
- No teacher conflicts — the same teacher cannot be in two classes simultaneously
- No class conflicts — the same class cannot have two subjects at once
- Subject distribution across the week (avoid 3 Maths periods on Monday)
Running the generator
Go to Timetable → AI Generator. Review the constraints and click Generate. The generator typically takes 10–30 seconds. It presents the generated timetable for review before you confirm it.
If the generator cannot satisfy all constraints, it shows the specific conflicts — usually a teacher assigned too many subjects for the available periods. Resolve them in Teacher Subjects and regenerate.
Substitute teacher assignment
When a teacher is absent, go to Timetable → Substitution. Select the absent teacher and date. The system shows their periods for the day and suggests available substitute teachers for each period (free during that time, qualified for the subject). Assign substitutes with one click.
