Troubleshooting & FAQ

Common issues, error messages, and answers to frequently asked questions.

Installation

The installer shows a .NET error and won't complete

The .NET 10 download may be blocked by a firewall. Try: (1) Temporarily disable antivirus, (2) Download .NET 10 manually from microsoft.com and install it first, then run the DEBMEDIA ERP setup again.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC"

Click More info → Run anyway. This is normal for newly published software (Windows SmartScreen).

The app won't open after install

Right-click the shortcut → Run as administrator. If it opens, right-click the .exe → Properties → Compatibility → check "Run as administrator."

Login & Users

I forgot the admin password

There is no self-service reset. Contact support with your license key — we will provide a recovery procedure. Keep admin credentials in a password manager.

My account is locked after too many failed attempts

An administrator can unlock it: open the Users tab → select your user → click Unlock Account.

Data Entry

I posted a transaction with an error — how do I fix it?

Posted transactions cannot be edited. Open it → click Cancel (Esc). The system posts a reversal. Then create a new, corrected transaction.

The trial balance is not balanced

This should not happen with normal use — every post is validated to be balanced. If you see an imbalance, do not post any new transactions and contact support immediately.

GST shows CGST+SGST but the party is in a different state

The customer or supplier's State field is not set, or is set to the same state as your company. Edit the party record and set the correct state. All future transactions will use IGST correctly.

Performance

The app is slow when loading lists

Two common causes: (1) Antivirus scanning the database file in real time — add the db folder to exclusions. (2) Database is on a slow network drive — move to an SSD or fast LAN share.

Multi-User

Occasional "database is locked" errors

SQLite allows one writer at a time. This resolves in milliseconds normally. If it persists: (1) Check no user has left a form open mid-transaction, (2) The database should be on a Windows SMB share, not a NAS with strict locking.
