Chart of Accounts
Understand and customise the account tree that underpins all financial transactions.
Account Types
Every account in DEBMEDIA ERP belongs to one of five root types:

| Expense | COGS, Salary, Rent, Utilities, Depreciation | Debit |
System Accounts (Do Not Delete)
These accounts are pre-created and used by the posting engines. Renaming or deleting them will break automatic journal entries:

| Stock / Inventory (1500) | Inventory asset value at FIFO cost |
| Cost of Goods Sold (5000) | COGS posted automatically on each sale |
Viewing the Chart of Accounts
Open the Chart of Accounts tab. The grid shows all accounts with Code, Name, Type, and Parent. Filter and sort to find any account quickly.
Adding a New Account
- Open the Chart of Accounts tab → New (Ctrl+N).
- Enter a unique Account Code and Name.
- Set the Account Type (Asset/Liability/Equity/Income/Expense).
- Optionally set a Parent Account to create a sub-account.
- Save (Ctrl+S).
Opening balances: When migrating from another system, post opening balances via the Journal Entry tab with narration "Opening Balance". This is a one-time step.
