What Is It and When Do You Need It?
A time zone converter tells you what time it is somewhere else at a given moment. It is essential for meetings, calls, live events and travel across countries. Daylight saving, which starts and ends on different dates in different regions, makes mental maths unreliable.
Choose a date and time, the zone you start in and the zone you want, and read the answer and a table of other zones.
How to Use This Tool
- Pick the date and time in the starting city.
- Choose the starting zone in From.
- Choose the target zone in To.
- Press Convert and read the result and the world table.
How the Calculation Works
The wall-clock time is first turned into an exact moment in UTC by finding the offset of the starting zone on that date, including daylight saving. The moment is then displayed in every other zone using the same rules. All zone rules come from the IANA time zone database built into your browser.
Worked Example
9:00 on 2 November 2026 in New York (UTC−5, because US clocks went back on 1 November) is 14:00 in London, 19:30 in Kolkata and 23:00 in Tokyo. A week earlier, New York was UTC−4, so the same 9:00 was 13:00 in London. That is why the date matters.
Common Uses
- Scheduling meetings across countries.
- Joining live streams and events.
- Calling family abroad.
- Planning travel and flights.
Tips and Common Mistakes
- Always choose the date, because offsets change with daylight saving.
- India has no daylight saving time.
- Some zones have a 30 or 45 minute offset.
