How the Calculation Works
The Gregorian calendar rule is: divisible by 4 means leap, but divisible by 100 means not leap, unless divisible by 400, which means leap again. This gives 97 leap years in every 400 years, an average year of 365.2425 days.
Worked Example
2028 is a leap year (divisible by 4). 2100 is not (divisible by 100, not 400). 2400 is. The leap years from 2024 to 2040 are 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036 and 2040.
