How the Calculation Works
The tool follows the NOAA equations. It finds the sun's position for the date, including the equation of time and declination. The hour angle at the official horizon of 90.833 degrees gives sunrise and sunset, and 96 degrees gives civil twilight. Times are shifted by your UTC offset. No data is downloaded.
Worked Example
In London on 21 June 2024 (offset 1) the sun rises at about 04:43 and sets at about 21:21, a day length of about 16 hours 38 minutes.
