What Is It and When Do You Need It?
Pay can be quoted per hour, week, month or year, and comparing offers needs one common unit. A job paying 300 an hour and a job paying 540,000 a year are hard to compare in your head. This tool converts one into the other.
Enter the amount, say what period it covers, and set your usual hours and weeks.
How to Use This Tool
- Enter the pay amount.
- Choose the period it covers.
- Set hours per week and paid weeks per year.
- Press Convert.
How the Calculation Works
Yearly pay = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. The tool first changes the pay to a yearly figure, then divides: per month ÷ 12, per week ÷ weeks, per day ÷ (weeks × days), per hour ÷ (weeks × hours). Days per week are taken as hours ÷ 8.
Worked Example
A salary of 600,000 a year at 40 hours and 52 weeks is 288.46 an hour, 2,307.69 a day (5 days a week), 11,538.46 a week and 50,000 a month.
