What Is It and When Do You Need It?
Knowing a word score helps you pick the best play. Players use a calculator to compare words and to settle a dispute.
Type a word, choose the game and any multiplier.
How to Use This Tool
- Enter or paste your input in the box or boxes above.
- Choose the options, if there are any.
- Press the button to run the tool.
- Read the result and use the copy button where one is shown.
How the Calculation Works
Each letter is looked up in the tile value table for the chosen game. The values are added up, multiplied by 2 or 3 if the word covers a double or triple word square, and then the seven-tile bonus is added. Letter squares are not modelled, so for those add the extra points by hand.
Worked Example
QUIZ scores 10 + 1 + 1 + 10 = 22 in Scrabble. HELLO scores 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 8.
