Enter the distance, the efficiency and the fuel price.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Choose the unit system.
  2. Enter distance, efficiency and price.
  3. Choose one way or round trip, and the number of people.
  4. Press Calculate.

How the Calculation Works

Metric with L/100 km: litres = distance × L/100 km ÷ 100. With km per litre: litres = distance ÷ km/L. US: gallons = miles ÷ mpg. Cost = fuel × price. The cost per person divides the total by the number of people.

Worked Example

A 500 km trip at 8 L/100 km needs 40 litres. At 1.50 a litre, that is 60.00 one way, 120.00 round trip, and 30.00 each for four people on the round trip.
