What Is It and When Do You Need It?

Flooring is sold in boxes, and running short means a second order that may not match. A careful count with a waste allowance avoids that.

Enter the room size and the box coverage and read how many boxes to buy.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Enter the room length and width.
  2. Enter the coverage per box.
  3. Choose a waste allowance and add a price if you wish.
  4. Press Calculate.

How the Calculation Works

Area = length × width. Area with waste = area × (1 + waste). Boxes = area with waste ÷ coverage per box, rounded up. The cost is the number of boxes times the price per box.

Worked Example

A room of 5 m by 4 m is 20 m². With 10% waste you need 22 m². At 2.2 m² per box, that is 10 boxes, which cover 22 m².
