Experimental FX Image Filters: Before & After Examples for All 20 Presets

This page shows every Experimental FX preset from the free Image Filters & Effects tool on its own: a before-and-after comparison and a full picture with the filter applied. There are 20 filters here, all run at 100% strength on the same sample photo.

Experimental FX presets are the bold ones: unusual colour casts, heavy treatments and effects you would not use every day. They are great for creative posts and album covers. In this set of 20, 6 lean warm, 0 lean cool and 14 stay close to neutral. On average they change contrast by +15 and saturation by +9; 8 boost colour, 5 add visible grain and 3 add a noticeable vignette.

1. 3D Depth Tone

Simulated depth — warm foreground, cool background separation.

This preset leans warm, lifts exposure slightly and adds some contrast. For depth it uses blue-tinted shadows. On top of that it applies extra clarity. The look is finished with a light vignette.

2. Chromatic Aberration

Lens chromatic aberration — purple fringing, colour edge distortion.

Applied at 100%, it boosts colour and adds some contrast. It also adds warm red-tinted shadows and warm golden highlights. It closes with a light vignette and a touch of grain.

3. Colour Channel Split

Extreme RGB split — maximum channel separation for surreal effect.

The grade boosts colour, leans warm, pulls green out for a magenta lean and adds some contrast. Colour is split-toned with warm red-tinted shadows and warm golden highlights. Final touches: a light vignette and a touch of grain.

4. Double Exposure

Double exposure mood — lifted shadows, faded contrast, dreamlike overlap.

At full strength it brightens the frame and opens up the midtones. The look is split-toned with blue-tinted shadows and warm golden highlights. It also applies a soft blur of about 1 px for a dreamy look. To finish, it adds a light vignette and a touch of grain.

5. Duotone Gold Blue

Duotone two-colour effect — gold highlights and deep blue shadows.

This preset softens colour and adds strong contrast. For depth it uses blue-tinted shadows and warm golden highlights. On top of that it applies extra clarity. The look is finished with a light vignette and a touch of grain.

6. Duotone Pink Dark

Duotone pink-to-black — vivid hot pink highlights over pure black shadows.

Applied at 100%, it softens colour, settles the midtones a bit darker and adds strong contrast. It also adds warm golden highlights. Beyond that it applies extra clarity. It closes with a noticeable vignette and a touch of grain.

7. Fade White

Fades to white at edges — soft ethereal white-out vignette.

9. Glitch RGB

RGB channel glitch — severe chromatic split with digital corruption feel.

Gradient map tone — shadows go teal-blue, highlights amber-orange.

Iridescent holographic — shifting rainbow colours, metallic and futuristic.

12. Light Leak Art

Artistic light leak — warm red-orange wash flooding from edges.

At full strength it boosts colour, adds a clearly warm, orange cast, lifts exposure slightly and gently lifts the midtones. The look is split-toned with warm red-tinted shadows and warm golden highlights. It also adds some contrast. To finish, it adds visible film grain.

Fades to black at edges — cinematic dark matte vignette.

Posterized film — limited colour palette with grain texture.

15. Prism Effect

Prism colour separation — rainbow-like channel split on edges.

16. Selective Colour Pop

Boosts select colour channels — saturates reds and blues, mutes greens.

17. Soft Bloom

Photographic bloom — bright areas bleed soft light into shadows.

This preset brightens the frame and opens up the midtones. For depth it uses warm red-tinted shadows and warm golden highlights. On top of that it flattens contrast for a soft, faded feel and applies a soft blur of about 2 px for a dreamy look.

18. Split Color

Split toning — contrasting warm highlights vs cool shadows.
