What Is It and When Do You Need It?

A SIP invests the same amount every month, and the money grows through compounding. The calculator shows what the plan could become if the return stays at the rate you assume. It is a planning aid, not a forecast.

Enter your monthly amount, the return you expect and the years. You can also add a yearly step-up.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Enter the monthly amount.
  2. Enter the expected annual return.
  3. Enter the number of years.
  4. Optionally add a yearly step-up, then press Calculate.

How the Calculation Works

With no step-up the future value is P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i), with each instalment invested at the start of the month. With a step-up, the tool runs month by month and raises the instalment by the chosen percentage at the start of each year. The monthly rate is the annual rate ÷ 12.

Worked Example

A SIP of 5,000 a month at 12% a year for 10 years invests 600,000 and is worth about 1,161,695, so the estimated gain is about 561,695.
